Meditation and Yoga

Another great way to relax is to meditate and practice yoga.

Step-by-Step Guide to Meditation:
According to the Science of Spirituality (SOS), their guide on how to meditate is not complicated and easy for beginners to try.
To start, you should be seated in a comfortable position. One that is away from touching other people as movement could distract your meditation. Yet being mindful with your position as being too comfortable could make you fall asleep.
Then:
Close your eyes gently as if you are about to sleep
Removing strain from your eyes and keeping them steady behind the lids, you should still feel wide and alert
Imagine focusing your eyes almost a foot in front of you in the plane of darkness
In your mind, repeat a calming word to yourself
While still seated in your comfortable position, observe what visuals you see during your meditation

Beginner's Guide to Basic Yoga
Keep in mind that short but consistent yoga sessions are just as, if not more, beneficial than a 30 minute session once a week.
Gather your yoga mat (or a comfortable rug, towel, blanket) and props you may want to use nearby
Create a designated area where you will practice from to build that sense of safety and routine. Preferably one with good natural lighting to soak up the vitamin C
Flow through some easy beginner poses:
Cat and Cow pose:
Get on all fours and inhale rounding out your back upwards as you "stitch" your belly button closer to your spine, tucking your chin to your chest.
Exhale, slowly tip your head back as you arch your spine and point your belly button to your mat.
Downward Facing Dog:
Start on all fours and slowly start bending your chest and head towards your legs. Find a comfortable arch in your spine as you feel the hamstrings stretch. Hang your head in between your arms and breathe.
Cobra Pose:
Lay on your belly and keep your hands next to either sides of your chest. Lift the chest up by pushing through your hands, keeping your arms by your side. Squeeze your shoulder blades together and go through a couple cycles of breathing.
Give yourself a goal to meet. Feeling accomplished and successful boosts your mood and motivation.
Be forgiving with yourself and remember that this is to help in relaxation. Releasing tension trapped in your body.
