Autumn Yang
Hello! My name is Autumn Yang and I am in my last semester as a junior here at VCU. My major is HPEX with a concentration in Health Science. I transferred to VCU in the fall of 2018, from Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA.) My hobbies include painting (not very well), and spending time with my friends. My favorite sports team is the Washington Redskins, because they are the closest to home for me--but also because my dad’s a super fan. My favorite spots in Richmond are Belle Isle for hiking, Scott’s Addition for the breweries, and Carytown for Cappola’s Deli (MUST TRY!!) and Ginger Thai Taste! What I like about VCU is that it reminds me so much of home. I grew up in a pretty diverse neighborhood, going to diverse schools. It’s nice to be a part of such a multicultural community. I spent most of my quarantine and summer learning new recipes to cook and binge-watching Netflix. My intended career is to become a women's health nurse practitioner!

Ammarah Khan
Hello class, my name is Ammarah. I am currently going into my junior year on the health sciences track. Before VCU, I lived in McLean Virginia, and before that I lived in Columbia, Maryland. I live with my parents, and older sister. I don’t have any pets however, my family is currently considering getting a goldendoodle so if you have a goldendoodle let’s talk! :) My favorite sport is lacrosse and I really enjoy watching soccer. My favorite football team is the Baltimore Ravens and my favorite soccer team is barcelona. My favorite places to go around Richmond are Bell Isle, Carytown, and Maymont Park. My favorite food places are pit and peel, les crepes, and Philly Steak & Gyros (in Carytown). I love VCU’s diversity because it creates a sense of community and inclusiveness. During the summer and quarantine I got into baking and making things from home. I made a lot of cookies and a lot of drinks as well. I made the bahama mama from tropical smoothie, the green tea frappe from starbucks, matcha lattes, and taro boba. I really had fun making these drinks and it helped my creativity flow as well as my sanity during the lockdown. I look forward to this class with you all!

Nicholas Hiep
Hello class! I’m Nico and I am a junior at VCU. I am a HPEX major with a health science concentration. I am also working towards a computer science minor. I used to live in Fairfax, Virginia with my parents and my younger brother. I lived there for about 10 years before moving down to Richmond for college. I now live in a house on Kemper Street with 2 other roommates who are the same age as me. I have a dog back in Fairfax. Her name is Daisy and is a miniature schnauzer. My hobbies include woodworking and cooking. I enjoy these activities because they let me be creative and allow me to blow off steam. My favorite sports team is the Washington Capitals! Places that I enjoy going to in RVA are Maymount, Blanchard's Coffee, and Monroe Park. Blanchard’s has the best coffee in town! But thats just my opinion. Please recommend more coffee places to me. I'd love to find more coffee shops! Over the summer/quarantine I was mostly just working on my summer classes, and also working on building a table for my house here in Richmond. It wasn’t a very eventful summer but it was nice to be able to relax.

Litiana Field
Hello everyone, my name is Litiana Field and I’m a junior at VCU. I’m an international student-athlete on the VCU field hockey team and I’m majoring in HPEX in the health concentration. I'm unsure about what I would like to do in the future but I do like the idea of working as an athletic trainer or a strength and conditioning coach. Before VCU I lived in Sydney, Australia with my parents and three brothers. My current roommates are on the VCU track & field team, one is a middle distance runner and the other is a triple jumper. Besides field hockey my favorite sport to watch is Rugby. In Australia I support the Sydney Roosters who are the current back to back champions. I’ve only recently begun watching American sports so I don’t have a favorite team but I most enjoy watching college basketball. I love the food culture in Richmond and finding all the hidden cafes and restaurants that have their own take on traditional cuisines. As a member of the athletic department I’m blessed to be a part of a diverse community united by a passion for sport. It has allowed me to meet unique individuals from all over the world who educate and inspire me everyday. The COVID pandemic in Australia was not at the same severity as the United States. As a result we had fewer restrictions which allowed me to take up surfing with a few of my friends over quarantine. Although it was winter in Australia the water was at its warmest which was helpful because I spent more time in the water than on my board. I’m not a good surfer but it allowed me to participate in a different form of physical activity as well as socially connect with friends.

Katherine Roberson

I plan to graduate Spring 2021 and enter an accelerated nursing program at VCU I lived in Falls Church, Virginia before moving out here to Richmond for school. I have a mom, dad and two brothers. My oldest brother is 25 and lives in SF and my youngest brother is 17 and going into his senior year of high school! I live with four roommates this year which I have all known and met through college. We live on Cary street in the most perfect house! I am super excited to finally be living in a nice house for my senior year because I havent lived in the best the past few years. Ontop of being a full time student here, I also run my own business doing eyelash extensions (@lashedbycarlyy on instagram). My business has really taken off since I started it the beginning of my sophomore year, making me have to make a lot of sacrifices between social life, grades and even my business itself in order to keep a balance in my life. Although it can get very stressful I really enjoy the work that I do. When I'm not working or doing school work I love to eat out and get drinks with friends. I really love food so living in Richmond is perfect for me, there are endless places to eat!
